Continues Casting Process
To produce aluminum tubes like those in the picture
The first step is to produce
an aluminum strip in a machine
where liquid aluminum hardens while rotating and rolling.
A special press will punch the aluminum strip into small aluminum discs(Slugs) from which the tube will be made by pressing \punching \ Blanking.
The process begins with Liquid aluminum at a temperature
of about 700 degrees,
following is the strip coming out of the wheel
the quality of the aluminum resulting in the quality of the tube is affected by the temperature in the process at each stage, so an accurate measurement of the temperature is necessary to get a tube of the required quality.
One important advantage is to verify if any of the water cooling channels are blocked. The temperature measuring is done at some chosen fixed point on the sheet and comparing temperature measured between the point during roll revolution.
Quality control reports are accurate and reliable because data is saved and can be recalled any time, along with graphics temperature view, across the cast sheet.
By stopping the scanner in certain positions on the sheet, it’s possible to verify differences in temperature due to blocked areas inside the tip.
