Forging
The customer wants to measure aluminum bars before forging.
The bars are inside an oven, and the customer wants to measure the exact temperature before forging. Temperatures would be around 200 to 350 ºC—material very reflective (with mirror effect).
Many of our pyrometers are installed in the forging application; typically, pyrometers measures billets coming out of the furnace before entering into the press for forging.
Aluminum billets enter the furnace
Aluminum billets are coming out of the furnace one step before the press
Typically we measure the aluminum billet when they are coming out of the furnace; some customers want to measure inside the furnace, and sometimes, it is possible
Inside the furnace, we may face measuring difficulties due to reflections of flames or the heaters from bright billet surfaces.
And, if to be honest – this information about the temperature inside is less relevant because the most important – to know the temperature of the billet right before entering the press.
The diagram below presents possible measurement locations, before and after the press.
To measure a highly reflective aluminum surface is AST specialization.
Our A5-IN and A5-EX pyrometers are the preferred choices for the measuring location 1,2,3
